What’s better than one GoPro camera? Two, naturally. But what about 50?
Well, control over 50 GoPro Hero cameras is exactly what you’ll get with the freshly announced WiFi BacPac + WiFi Remote Combo Kit.
The combo will allow you to WiFi-enable both your HD Hero and HD Hero2 cameras, a la BacPac, which is an attachable casing. Then, the WiFi Remote will go with you wherever your creative and sport-tastic desires may lead, including underwater, to control up to 50 GoPro cameras at a time from up to 600 feet.
The BacPac will also allow you to control just as many cameras from your smartphone or tablet, as soon as the GoPro App is available. The company promises it’s “coming soon.” The app will then allow you to not only control the cameras, but live preview and play back videos and photos taken with your GoPro. You can also transfer content from the GoPro to your smartphone or tablet via WiFi, as well as livestream GoPro content direct to your phone.
To celebrate the launch, GoPro paired up with skater Ryan Sheckler who skated through Manhattan with 50 GoPros set up along his path. The result is this:

It wasn’t long ago that we heard about the “lock-up” woes D4 and D800 owners were experiencing on their shiny new shooters, but luckily for them, Nikon just outed a fix to take care of those issues. Aside from solving the aforementioned annoyance, the firmware update (B:1.01) also mends a problem allowing RAW files to be network-transferred while in JPEG-only mode, as well as a bug causing bits like aperture and exposure compensation to change unexpectedly when using certain custom settings. This is the Censorship Towel from Carmichael Collective (consider it my Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Towel Day post). It makes your privates look pixelated, but only if you’re the right shade of peach. Personally, I think it should like four black squares in the middle because BUSHES ARE COMING BACK, BABY. Kidding, I have no clue what’s in fashion down there. Braids? Hats? I don’t need a Censorship Towel because I’m so hairy it already looks like I have a black censor bar triangle over my junk. “You should dye it orange and turn it into a yield sign.” Now THAT — that might be the most brilliant thing you’ve ever said to me.
