No, you can’t transfer files directly by connecting your camera to the Galaxy Tab. But there are other ways you can transfer files to it. Such as…

I think there are two different Galaxy Tabs available (7″ and 10.1″). From looking at information/User Manuals, the 7″ Tab appears to have better connectivity.

You can connect it directly to your computer (it will be seen as a removable disk) which allows you to transfer files to it.

You can also insert an SD memory card directly in the Tab in order to transfer files to it (because it has an SD card slot). So, all you need to do is take the memory card out of your camera, insert it in the Tab and transfer files to it…or transfer whatever files you want over to any SD/SDHC memory card (by connecting it and a USB card reader to your computer) then insert the card in the Tab to transfer the files to it.

However, the 10.1″ Tab doesn’t appear to have an SD card slot, meaning the only easy way to transfer files to it would be by connecting it to your computer and then transferring your files over to it.

You can download the User Manuals for each Tab from Samsung’s website…but I recommend you ask questions (from the salesperson) when buying it, just to make sure of it’s connectivity.
