Microsoft said that it was going to add desktop app listings to the Windows Store in the Windows 8 Release Candidate, and now the very first one has made its appearance. Fittingly, it’s one of Microsoft’s very own pieces of software — Microsoft Office 2010. As we previously reported, desktop apps in the Windows Store are merely glorified links to the developer’s website, and don’t even offer basic info like install size, rating, or permissions. The Redmond-based company has strict requirements for certifying apps and allowing them to be offered in the Windows Store, and desktop apps have a few extra prerequisite.
