44-year Darren Baldwin got fired from his temporary job at a UK stress ball factory, so what did he do? What anybody in a warehouse full of stress relievers would — punched his boss, then produced two knives and began threatening to stab him in front of the other workers. I sense some hostility.
According to prosecutor Tracy Yates, Baldwin “showed the knives to his colleague and started to shout threats like, ‘I will cut you up’.”
At his court appearance, Baldwin admitted to assault and was bailed on the condition he does not enter the Sycamore trading estate where the company operates.
I like how he showed the knives to a coworker first. Hey man — sweet knives, right? I’M GONNA STAB OUR BOSS WITH ‘EM. Did you hear that, Mr. McGillicutty?! I FEEL LIKE I’M A LITTLE CHUCKY DOLL RIGHT NOW. I’m sorry, but nobody should be threatening to stab somebody in a stress ball factory. That’s like a worker going hungry at the Little Debbie plant.

We’d heard that the International Telecommunication Union was close to approving Super Hi-Vision as an Ultra High Definition TV standard, and the UN agency hasn’t waited long to confirm the rumors. The recommendation to use NHK’s 7,680 x 4,320 format has gone unopposed and should define the parameters for incredibly detailed 8K video worldwide. This shouldn’t lead anyone to return that 4K TV just yet — once again, it’s important to remember that NHK still won’t start any kind of wider testing until 2020. That’s also assuming that the first 8K sets are down to Earth instead of the incredibly expensive 145-inch variety.

Buckyballs, the popular magnetic desktop toy, have officially been banned by the Consumer Products Safety Commission. Because for some reason parents can’t keep the things out of their children’s hands, and those children can’t keep the things out of their grubby little pie-holes. Come on — you probably don’t even know how magnets work and you’re giving them to your kid to play with! God, be a responsible parent for once.
The CSPC said that Buckyballs are a “substantial product hazard” and are concerned by the injuries it causes to kids who swallow them:
“Notwithstanding the labeling, warnings and efforts taken by (Maxfield and Oberton), ingestion incidents continued to rise because warnings are ineffective”
When swallowed, the CSPC says that Buckyballs have the potential to pinch and trap intestines and require surgery to remove.
I mean, it sucks when something like this happens. They’re a perfectly acceptable adult toy, you just can’t let kids play with them. Take a dildo for example. Fine for adults, not so much for kids (unless you tell them it’s a magic dagger!). Simple as that. “Didn’t you eat some Buckyballs though?” I was pretending to be Magneto, that’s different.
Thanks to jedi-GK, LeftRightLeft, Dustin, nazilla and Tofu Butcher, who don’t believe in warning labels, only survival of the fittest.

This is a miniature Death Star carved out of a ping pong ball and some card-stock. It’s pretty impressive for being so teensy. Speaking of — you ever played the game where you and a friend shoot ping pong balls out of your mouths trying to hit each other in the face? It’s actually kinda fun. Well, at least until you swallow a few and have to pass them the next day. I felt like a f***ing sea turtle laying eggs.
Hit the jump for a couple more shots including a couple of the process and a size-comparison next to a pack of smokes in case you’re not sure how big a ping pong ball is.
