Question by Storm: What problems would I have buying an iPad from the USA? What problems would I have buying an iPad to from the US and using it in the UK? Would the App Store still work the same? Would I need a different charger?
Best answer:
Answer by Jeff JI live here in Thailand, and I simply purchased an iPad on eBay from the U.S. and it was delivered here in three days. I can see no limitation, or even special consideration, required for having an iPad from the U.S.A. in the UK. The current is the same here as in the UK, and I charge my iPad via an iPhone wall charger, from my wall USB hub or, of course, straight USB connector into the computer. I have noticed, though, that my iPhone charging cables with USB do not seem to work as well as the official USB cables, especially if I am buying a non-Apple USB charging cable. They still work, however, but for one cable at least, I have to turn off the iPad for it to charge up – but it’s okay for over-night charging. I use the U.S. app store, but I see that I could choose the UK (or any other) store if I wanted to (and had an account in those places). I have absolutely no problems with the app store, or the update badges (on the app store icon) or with the updates themselves. Hope you enjoy it!

Getting an iPhone in China has always been hard. For most of its life-cycle, the phone has been unavailable in the Mainland except through the grey market. Now that Apple is allowed to sell units in Shenzhen, however, it’s gotten amazingly strict on sales per-person.
The primary limit is on walk-in sales. Users cannot buy iPhones at the store and instead are limited to picking one up per-day, per-customer. You can also only buy ten iPhones per credit card and you can buy limited amounts using gift cards, a loophole the grey market discovered early on.
Apple’s Chinese website also controls the numbers of orders coming in at once, effectively reducing the possibility that hundreds of consumers walk in to pick up the iPhone after a massive flood of orders. Apple also forced buyers to have their phones activated on the spot by employees and there are a number of safeguards in place to prevent repeat offenders from shopping.
Not surprisingly, little of this really works. Pallets of Apple products still flood the grey market and, like most normal consumers, the Chinese buyers resent this intrusion, thereby giving more power to the markets. It’s an endless, clever circle that often involves older Chinese ladies standing outside of Apple stores in New York waiting for iPads Mini while smugglers shoot iPads across rivers into the Mainland with a crossbow.
Arguably, I doubt there’s much grey market demand for, say, the Lenovo Yoga so it may be worth the effort just to keep demand high.

You read correctly, folks. Head over to IWATCHSTUFF for the whole store because, frankly, I don’t feel like talking about.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in and who will continue to send it in over the next couple days because you’re a bunch of spazzes.

There were balloons. There were streamers. There were brand new Ultrabooks, members of staff unfurling banners, and — once other customers started to arrive — there was even a vibe of genuine excitement for today’s official launch of Windows 8 in the UK. But whichever aisle I scanned, nowhere was to be found what I had come to buy: a Windows 8 disc for desktop upgraders. It was a faltering start, but it was also strangely symbolic of my mission — namely, to explore what Microsoft’s latest operating system can do for regular desktop folk. People who, in other words, aren’t yet looking to invest in touch-enabled monitors or laptops or all-in-ones; who rarely get the chance to lean back with a media-consumption tablet; and who simply want to upgrade their traditional tower PC before getting on with their lives. Read on past the break and you can begin this potentially short, hopefully sweet journey with me, starting with a quick rundown of my test rig (which also happens to be my mission critical work computer) and an anti-climactic revelation about whether, in the end, I ever found the software box I was looking for.

So far I’ve heard conflicting reviews on Your Shape versus EA Sports Active (with YS not being as good a workout BUT is more responsive). And Dance Central being pretty good. Any thoughts on these or others that I haven’t mentioned very welcome. Thanks.

The 56-page alleged leaked Microsoft document has given us a fascinating look into what might be the next generation of Xbox hardware, but Ars Technica has also spotted a sign that Microsoft wanted to buy out the OnLive streaming games service. In a list of “threats” to the Xbox 720, the document’s creators said that OnLive could “up-end the console gaming market by making expensive consoles and PCs unnecessary for AAA gaming.” If it partnered with a carrier like AT&T, it could even produce cheap subsidized hardware.
According to notes on the downloadable version of the presentation on Scribd (not in the online version), Microsoft considered OnLive a “potential acquisition target” for these reasons. All signs point to this being written…

Question by : Can I use Xbox Live Vision instead of buying a Kinect Camera to play Kinect games? I was looking at buying a kinect but my friend has offered to sell me a vision for cheap, can i save myself some money and just buy the vision to play kinect games?
Best answer:
Answer by Milk84No. Games labeled as Kinect games require Kinect to work. The vision camera only works in some regular games and you can use it in video chat and to send picture messages.

I was planning on waiting for at least next year when better games come out and the developers have had more time and experience with it.
