After 22 years of existence, iRobot has come a long way and is still releasing new models of its home cleaning robots. The Looj 330 has been completely redesigned to improve your gutter cleaning experience.
In the vacuuming robot line, the Roomba 600 series has been updated as well with redesigned brushes and a better air system.
Two years ago, iRobot released the Looj for those who do not like heights and cleaning out gutters. The new version has the same strengths as its predecessor. It is an effective way to push out dust and branches with a remote control and a flippy-flappy front sweeper.
A nice side effect is that it’s fun to use. But, as we said in our review, using the last-gen Looj with tighter gutters could be a problem.
With the Looj 330, iRobot addressed that flaw. The robot has a lower profile design and comes with interchangeable auger flaps to fit all kinds of gutters. Moreover, there is a new automatic “clean” mode that adapts to debris. But don’t worry, the manual mode is still here for your inner child.
The battery is now a lithium-ion battery that is supposed to work well after many months spent in your garage. The robot comes with a belt clip to carry it while climbing a ladder.
Finally, a new accessory kit is now available with other auger flap sizes and a bag to put away all this stuff. It looks like a toolbox dedicated to the Looj, and you can hang it on the wall next to your other tools. The accessory kit is available for $ 99.99.
While the first version of the Looj cost $ 169, the updated version now costs $ 299.99 due to the new features.
iRobot has released today a new version of the entry model of its vacuuming robots as well. It is a minor revision. In addition to redesigning the look of the robot, the two main new features are a new brush design and a better air system. The entry price is $ 329.
With those new products, iRobot still seems dedicated to automate home maintenance.

Breaking news out of Twitter this afternoon, four key product managers have just been let go, we’ve learned. The move was led by Jack Dorsey and will see key product guys Kevin Cheng, Josh Elman, and two others we’ve yet to confirm, leave the company.
Twitter refuses to comment on any specific names and would only say that “some people have left the company and we appreciate their contributions”. But we’ve independently confirmed that both Cheng and Elman are two of those no longer with the company. Both of these guys have been vital to the Twitter product over the past couple of years. Cheng, for example, was key on the “New Twitter” project. Elman was previously with Facebook.
This move is said to be led by Dorsey as a final measure to remove those still closely affiliated with the old Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Jason Goldman regime. Those three, of course, all left Twitter in recent months and just re-launched the Obvious startup incubator where Twitter was originally born.
Reached, Cheng and Elman both declined to comment.
Update: We’ve now confirmed that Anamitra Banerji (@anamitra) and Jean-Paul Cozzatti (@jeanpaul) will round out the foursome of PMs who are leaving.

On January 25th, The Register reported that one unlucky bloke saw his bank account emptied through a series of iTunes monthly gift purchases sent to an unknown Hotmail account. He was informed of the theft by an e-mail from Apple, saying his gift purchase had been confirmed, but alas, he’d already been taken to the tune of £1,000. It’s been over a week since the story appeared, but accounts continue to pour into an Apple customer support forum, echoing the accusations made to The Register – and, boy are people mad. Apparently, customers seeking Apple’s help have received a pat response that sounds awfully familiar: cancel your credit card and report the charges to your bank. We’ve yet to hear of this happening anywhere outside the UK, but we’re still interested to see how the great iTunes heist shakes out. If a suspicious Hotmail account is sucking you dry, we want all the sorted details.
