Chis Lee is man. Actually, a crazy person. A crazy person with a dream – to build a full-size Millennium Falcon replica over the next 5-7 years. He intends to build the model complete with correctly scaled interior, then put it on display outside where it should be visible on Google maps and possibly score him some hot space alien ladies. I’m joking, I think he’s married. For how much longer remains to be seen.
Using the DK Ultimate Collection blueprints as our guide, we have calculated the final outer dimensions of the structure. The DK blueprints use the same overall length as the Robert Brown estimate. From there, we arrive at:
Length: 114 feet Beam (docking ring to docking ring): 81.485 feet Height to top of body (not counting quad-laser turret): 24.878 feet Height to top of dish: 30.889 feet Clearance: ground to landing gear bay level: 7.779 feet Clearance: ground to outside bottom of cockpit tube: 13.081 feet
So far Chris has got the cockpit console near finished and an exterior quad-gun completed, and…that’s about it. I’m not sure if he’s still planning on finishing in the next five to seven years, but I certainly hope so because I have every intention of commandeering that vessel and making it my own private clubhouse. *knock on landing bay door* WHAT’S THE PASSWORD? “Han Solo sensuous lips.” *opening door* Hurry up and get in here.
Hit the jump for a bunch of renderings of what the finished thing should look like, as well as the pieces Chris has completed so far. Make sure to check out the official site for ongoing progress.

This is a custom electric guitar pieced together by Youtuber fiskybusiness89 out of a plastic Millennium Falcon toy and handmade R2-D2 head stock. I don’t know about you, but I for one would smash the shit out of that on stage after one song and then yell “SHOW’S OVER, NO REFUNDS.” Did I mention it’s hyperdrive lights up and has sound effects? Sound effects IN ADDITION to the standard guitar ones (twang twangs). Still, no word if it can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsnips. “You mean parsecs?” I don’t know, do I? “You’ve never seen Star Wars, have you?” Ha, only The Wrath of Khan.

This is a giant-ass Millennium Falcon beanbag chairbed. I would sleep on it. But I’d also eat on it, because I’m a disgusting fatbody. True story: when I was doing my quarterly bed laundry this weekend I found a turkey drumstick, half a piece of pizza (sans crust), two Fruit Roll-Ups and an unopened pudding-pack in the tuck at the bottom. I had a feast. “You’re sick.” No, I’m full is what I am. “OF SHIT!” *dancing* I know but I’m trying to wait till I’m home to go!

SpaceX promised something big, and it’s now delivered. The company today revealed its plans for the Falcon Heavy, which promises to be the “world’s most powerful rocket.” Just how powerful is that? SpaceX says the 22-story rocket will be able to carry satellites or spacecraft weighing over 53 metric tons (or 117,000 pounds) into low earth orbit, which is nearly twice what the Space Shuttle is able to carry. What’s more, this isn’t just a far off promise. SpaceX says the rocket will be “ready” sometime next year, and the first test flight is planned for 2013. The rocket’s sheer size isn’t it’s only selling point, though — it also promises to drastically reduce the cost of sending things into space, with each launch expected to cost “only” $ 100 million. Head on past the break for a taste of what’s in store.

We’ve seen some sweet ass guitars round these parts, but nothing compares to this Millenium Falcon guitar. It was created by one Travis S, who knows how to meld guitar with ship like a true master.
This thing may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts. It even lights up just like the real Falcon. Now all he needs is some alien friends with saxophones and he can rock the Cantina with this thing. It is fully functional.
