Todd Bradley, HP’s head of PC, has spoken frankly about Microsoft’s Windows RT and Surface launches. In an interview with IDG Enterprise, Bradley reiterated comments HP made earlier this year, saying he’d “hardly call Surface competition,” before making some rather damning comments about Microsoft’s first ever tablet. “It tends to be slow and a little kludgey as you use it,” says Bradley, adding that “it’s expensive… the press has made a bigger deal out of Surface than what the world has chosen to believe.” Back in August, another HP exec said that Surface was Microsoft’s way of “making a leadership statement and showing what’s possible in the tablet space.”

Bradley cites the small retail launch — Surface is only available directly…

Windows 8 Consumer Preview Event Steven Sinofsky

In a surprise move, Windows head Steven Sinofsky has abruptly left Microsoft right after the launch of Windows 8 and the Surface RT. Sinofsky was in charge of bringing the products to market and did so successfully, so his immediate departure came as a shock to some. Not so within Microsoft, where sources tell us the executive was not well-liked and wasn’t well-positioned to lead the collaborative efforts necessary for the company’s future success. He will be replaced, in part, by Julie Larson-Green, who will take up “all future Windows product development.”

upside-down-head-sheep.jpg

This is Terry the sheep. Terry was born with his head on upside down. Obviously, he’s the black sheep of his flock. I’m not sure if the elves working in God’s workshop were drinking on the job that day or what, but that is NOT how you assemble a sheep. If Santa brought that to my house on Christmas I’d probably make a real effort to be better next year.

A sheep at a farm of one of my friends. He was born with his head the wrong way round.

He lives happily and has been checked by a Vet to ensure he is in no pain. He can eat, sleep and do everything other sheeps can.

Hoho, he’s like a modern day Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer! Well, if Rudolph was born with his head on upside down and could scratch his crotch with his antlers. Similar though. “They’re nothing alike.” Like apples and oranges, really.

bagel-head-injections.jpg

Because Japan prides itself on being on the cutting edge of weird, these saline solution “bagel head” injections are allegedly a growing trend in the country. Thankfully (if there can be a thankfully in this story), the bagel shape only lasts around 16 hours before the saline is absorbed into the body and your forehead returns to normal. This is ridiculous. Call me when you can make me look like Worf from Star Trek for a day.

Here’s how it goes down: technicians insert a needle into the forehead and inject about 400 cc of saline to create a forehead-sized blob. (One bagel-ee describes is as feeling like “something’s dripping down [his] head” and a “slight stinging sensation.”) The practitioner then places his or her thumb into the blob to create the indentation.

Bagel heads – really? Waffles I could understand. A Pop Tart even, but bagels? They’re not even good without cream cheese. At least call them doughnuts. On a side note, would this work to give me temporary boobs for a day? I only ask because I found a bra in my apartment building’s laundry room and it’s been begging me to wear it. Plus I want to film myself jogging.

Hit the jump for a kind of graphic (needle in forehead) video showing the procedure.

jambox1

Everyone’s favorite portable speaker is getting a facelift later this month.

Beginning August 28, Jawbone will let you customize the grill and caps to its popular JAMBOX on Jawbone.com. You can mix and match between 13 grill and 9 cap colors for over 100 color combinations. (Maybe I’ll order a white and orange one in honor of CrunchGear! Or whatever colors those are on CrunchBase.) Your designs can be previewed on the site or shared to Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for others to see.

A week prior to launch, Jawbone insiders and Klout users will have an inside track from August 21 to the 27th to customize and order before the rest of the heathens.

Pricing remains the same at $ 199.99. Jawbone says the Big Jambox will not be privy to new colorways like its little brother.
