No, it doesn’t entirely make sense to us, either. And yet, here it is: Apple co-founder (and Segway enthusiast) Steve Wozniak is going to feature in an iOS game with action star Danny Trejo. ITN FLIX’s and React Games’ lengthily-worded Danny Trejo’s Vengeance (Woz With A Coz) will have Woz trying to rescue his wife with Trejo’s help, plowing through enemies with guns and, naturally, machetes. We’re working to find out just what prompted the use of Woz’s image for an out-of-character role — other than an attempt at drumming up press for the game’s Thanksgiving launch and a somewhat related 2013 movie, of course. There’s no telling whether the title will be as fun as its concept is outlandish, although we might be swayed if Vengeance goes full circle with Woz and includes a Breakout mini-game.

Ever since 2000, game consoles have effectively (if not very assertively) been banned in China. There’s already been signs of a warming attitude with official plans for the Nintendo 3DS XL coming this December, but Sony may have slipped out hints of a fuller thaw without anyone noticing until now. A Sina Weibo user just discovered that the 160GB and 320GB versions of the previous-generation PlayStation 3, the CECH-3012, passed through China Compulsory Certificate approval in July — an odd move when the console couldn’t actually go on sale in an official capacity in current conditions. Certification is still far from a guarantee that Sony will actually sell the PS3 in the country, most of all when it’s a slightly outdated model of a console line that’s edging ever nearer to a replacement. The government certainly hasn’t commented on what the regulatory clearance means. If it ultimately leads to more gamers in Chengdu or Shanghai, however, we’re all for it.

It’s purportedly a table containing names of upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices, found by a curious wallpaper designer. The names listed for Nokia include “Fluid,” “Dogphone,” and the previously seen “Phi.” One slightly less superlative name — Nokia P4301 — caught the attention of PhoneArena, who mused that P might be for PureView? An interesting, if not optimistic leap. There are two other items in the table that might pique interest: a Samsung SGH-1687 and a Juggernaught Alpha. There’s little else to get excited about specification-wise, bar different versions of Windows Phone, however. That said, no one as yet has mentioned the elephant in the room — what about that “Virtual” model in the works from Microsoft?

While EVs come in all shapes and sizes, one thing seems to remain constant — a witty electricity pun. This time up its Ample, and its “Eo” e-quadrimotorcycle. A quadri-ma-whatcycle? Basically, a light, low-powered four-wheeled electric vehicle. The Eo’s 40 miles per hour top speed might not be teeth-rattlingly fast, but it means it can eke out 124 miles on a single charge. Essentially, it’s a single seated vehicle, but there are two fold-out chairs in the back if you want to make things even more cosy, while other gizmos on board include backward-facing cameras that pipe into a screen on the dash, replacing the need for mirrors. The Eo was on display at EVS26 in California, but no word on if, or when, we can expect to see this cutting us up on the school run.

Celebrity headphone endorsements are very a la mode right now, and we’ve seen Ed Hardy’s trademark tattoo stylings defacing gadgetry before, so, if you were the one lamenting the glaring omission that was Hardy-branded cans, then he obviously got your letter. The new “Stereo” range evidently refers to the two designs available thus far: Skull and Bones for the over-ears ($ 66), while your in-ears get some Tiger power ($ 29). The in-ears also feature a microphone, presumably so you can call for help from the fashion police. Both are available now.

A fully-functional Babbage Difference Engine? That’s been done and duplicated. But the even more ambitious Babbage Analytical Engine? That’s another story completely. Devised by mathematician Charles Babbage in the 1830s, the Analytical Engine can be considered to be the first programmable computer — or at least the first notion of one — but Babbage’s plans for it were never finished, and the device itself (which would fill a room) was never built. That didn’t stop computing pioneer Ada Lovelace from designing a programming language for it, though. Now a team of researchers from the Plan 28 group in the UK have begun work on a massive undertaking to finally bring Babbage’s invention to life — a project that’s expected to expected to take upwards of ten years and cost millions of dollars. In addition to a story on the project by John Markoff, the New York Times also has a helpful overview of the machine itself at the source link below.

Here’s a situation: you create a Facebook account. You fall in love with said account. You’re on it all day, every single day. And then, your computer explodes. You go to login on a new machine, and you realize that your minty fresh browser has no recollection of your Facebook password. At this point, you’re probably pondering the point of taking another breath. Evidently, Facebook understands your dilemma, and in the coming weeks, it’ll be testing out a new password recovery system for those who can’t / won’t take advantage of the existing methods. Christened “Trusted Friends,” the feature will allow a user to select between three and five pals that they’re confident will help out in dire times. Then, should you lose your password, Facebook can send recovery codes to that gang, and they can hand ‘em over to you in order to unlock things. According to Facebook, it’s akin to “giving a house key to your friends when you go on vacation.” The only concern? Friends aren’t friends forever, and even BFFs can morph into WEEs given the right circumstances. Choose wisely, Facebookers.
