- Hands-on with Kobo’s Glo and Mini e-readers
- Nook SimpleTouch with GlowLight review
- Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review
There’s nothing like a good underdog story. Aside from last year’s failed Vox tablet, Kobo has made some quality devices, but has still failed to make a huge dent in the e-reader market — a space dominated by Amazon and Barnes & Noble. In the case of the Glo front-lit e-reader ($ 129), Kobo might just be hampered by unfortunate timing. Though the company managed to get a jump on things in the last round with the Kobo Touch, the Glo comes on the heels of similar devices, the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight and the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite. But, could this reader have what it takes to convince Kindle and Nook owners to take a leap of faith? Find out after the break.

Still, you can’t blame the Rethink Possible outfit for doing what it’s supposed to — even if it only means rolling out the “true 4G” in small chunks. As of today, though, AT&T’s flipping the switch on its Long Term Evolution waves in places like Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the Worcester, MA area. Meanwhile, the company also announced it’s improving LTE coverage in other vicinities around Massachusetts, Greater Baltimore as well as the Washington, D.C. region. Of note, this means AT&T’s speedier service is now live in more than 50 markets, a rather small figure when compared to Big Red’s 300-plus.

When’s the last time you really splurged on something for your bike? The old girl gets you around town, puts up with your ridiculous maintenance regimens, and shifts and rattles in just the right way to get you up and down the hills of your borough. Why not show her you love her and, thanks to Blinksteady, put a ring on it.
The Blinksteady is the world’s smartest bike light (citation needed). It turns on when it’s dark and turns itself off when your bike is stopped. You no longer have to reach back to turn on your light when dusk turns to night and, better still, you never have to risk being hit by a nightblind SUV driver in some deserted late-night cul-de-sac.
The biggest issue? Price. This honker is $ 95, which makes it worth more than my bike. However, it’s made of milled aluminum and it’s completely self-contained. Plus you never have to take it off because it’s secured to your seat post.
Don’t want to spend so much? Don’t you worry. $ 30 gets you:
Come to our Launch party and get a tour of our shop where we’ll be producing all of the Blink / Steady bike lights! If you’re lucky we’ll fire up the cryogenic freezer and make some frozen bourbon drinks and icecream.Mmmm… bourbon drinks.
Anyway, they’re about $ 5,000 in on a $ 35,000 request, so get cracking.

AT&T continues to slowly spread its flavor of 4G LTE throughout the land, tonight crossing two St. Louis and Staten Island off of its spring / early summer expansion list. The timing is favorable for anyone that gave up high speed wireless internet access for Lent, however everyone else still waiting for access will be looking on in jealousy. With brand new access in St. Louis and expanded coverage in Staten Island (4G LTE is live in all five boroughs) AT&T has pulled off the rare trifecta of pleasing Nelly, the Wu-Tang Clan and, perhaps, Bruce Springsteen.

Word of the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G first broke around the time Team TechCrunch was roaming the cavernous halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center at CES, but at the time T-Mobile wasn’t feeling very talkative about release dates.
The mangenta-hued carrier seems to have opened up a bit during the intervening months though, as they’ve taken to Twitter earlier today to announce that their latest Samsung handset will hit their sales channels on March 28. If you’re really lucky (or willing to hop in a car and take some chances), you could snag a Blaze 4G even earlier than that, as some stores will be selling the device a week early.
You’d be forgiven for not remembering the Galaxy S Blaze 4G — between all of the nifty new gadgets on display at CES and MWC, a mid-range T-Mobile handset like the Blaze can slip though the cracks pretty easily. Still, while a Galaxy S III this thing ain’t, one could certainly do worse than eye up a device with a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor, 3.97-inch Super AMOLED display, and support for T-Mobile’s 42Mbps HSPA+ network.
For better or worse you’ll still have to deal with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and Samsung’s hallmark TouchWiz UI but hey, it’s not like the market is swimming in Android 4.0 devices yet. At $ 150 (after a $ 50 mail-in rebate, ugh) the Blaze 4G runs squarely in the middle of the T-Mobile pack, and while it looks to be a solid choice for anyone sitting on an upgrade, pulling the trigger on a phone like this still takes some consideration.
A few more bucks nets you a proper Galaxy S II (in white even!), while a few dollars less yields up some solid-if-dated hardware like the HTC Sensation. It’s a perpetually tough call for prospective phone shoppers — should they take a plunge on a mid-range handset now, or wait for prices on high-end devices to drop?
On Monday 28th November Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows phone nokia.ly brought deadmau5 and the world’s most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show at Millbank Tower, London. Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the “future of live events” the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance — adding the 4th dimension. The much-anticipated Nokia Lumia 800 is here. View all your texts and chats in one seamless conversation. Take, tag and upload photos to Facebook in seconds, and browse the web like you’re on a PC. Find your way with satnav that even works without a signal. Nokia Lumia 800 makes the everyday amazing. The Lumi Nube is a conceptual pillow with integrated strips of LED tape that light up so you can…I dunno, do whatever the hell you’d do with a glowing pillow. “OMG, I’m gonna have my girlfriend sit on t–” Stop it right there, pervert. I don’t even wanna hear what kind of unholy kinkery is about to come out of your mouth.
Luminube is a pillow cover with integrated LED lights that provide ambient light for reading, easing you to sleep, or even waking you up with its smartphone controlled timer.
The pillow plugs into a standard wall outlet, and provides a USB plug for your smartphone. Because if there’s one thing I need in bed, it’s more power cords. *eying crock pot and waffle iron* You know what would suck? Accidentally flipping your glow pillow on in the middle of the night and then not being able to fall back asleep because you just thought your head was on fire.
Hit the jump for several more shots.

It’s not enough anymore to simply cram a single-octave keyboard into the bottom of a Nintendo DS, effective piano instruction requires at least twice as many keys — and an iPad. The Ion Piano Apprentice (when coupled with a compatible iDevice and companion app) offers aspiring Tchaikovskys octave-selectable free play, lessons on reading sheet music, and even a view of award-winning piano instructor Scott Houston’s handsome hands. If those mitts are too distracting for you, just follow along with the light-up keys, you’ll be fine. This mini keyboard / iPad dock will land this fall to the tune of $ 100 — – it’s either that, a real instructor, or a pair of haptic robot gloves. Your choice, really. Hit the PR after the break for a peek at Mr. Houston’s official nickname, if you’re into that sort of thing.
