star-trek-footie-pajamas.jpg

This is a line of officially licensed Star Trek footed pajama onsies from Jumpin’ Jammerz, which I’m going to go ahead and assume was named in the 90′s. You can pick from command gold, engineering (aka ‘deathwish’) red, or engineering blue, and each one will set you back $ 65. Then you can run around the house pretending to be part of the Enterprise crew while your kids beg you to stop and please not do that while they have friends over for a sleepover.

Thanks to my lost uncle Evil Ares, who I suspect is just PRETENDING to be my lost uncle because he didn’t remember the secret family handshake when I tried to give it to him.

DNP Optimus Vu II

Having put the phat back in phablet with its original 4:3 aspect ratio, 5-inch Optimus Vu, LG seems bent on releasing a successor already, the Optimus Vu II, according to a leak from Korean blog Bad IT Tong. The new Galaxy Note II challenger would carry the same form factor and 1080 x 768 IPS screen as the current Vu model, while doubling the RAM to 2GB, bumping the Qualcomm processor to an 8960 1.5GHz dual-core model (not the international quad-core version) and keeping the LTE radio from its US Intuition variant. It would come out of the box with Android 4.0, an 8-megapixel rear shooter, 32GB of storage and a 2080 mAh battery, judging by the leaked image above — all specs we’ve seen before. There’s no word yet on US pricing, availability, a stylus or an intriguing universal remote app teased by LG, but recent purchasers of the original Optimus Vu might be feeling left in a technology wake.

dalek-replicas.jpg

Firebox is selling these $ 5,700 Dalek replicas made from the same molds and specs as the originals by the BBC’s props department. So I just did the math, and if 52 of us get together and put in $ 110, we can each have it for one week out of the year. Obviously, I will take the first week and then conveniently disappear. Unfortunately:

WARNING: The Dalek produced by ‘this planet earth ltd’ is sold purely as a collector’s item. IT IS NOT A TOY. Despite the fact that this reproduction TV prop enables the user to enter the inside of the Dalek, ‘this planet earth ltd’ do not recommend this action. ‘this planet earth ltd’ cannot be held responsible for any injury caused to the owner or any third party during the course of misuse for purpose.

I get it, you HAVE to have a disclaimer. But is that gonna stop me from climbing inside and making my roommate push me down the stairs? It is not. You only live once, that’s what I say. “Please tell me you’re joking.” Of course I’m joking — I’M A CAT. Meow meow meow meow.

Thanks to BLiNNeMaNS, who agrees somebody should start a Dalek Pest Extermination business if they haven’t already.

This is a series of posters by artist Tim Anderson (links to personal website where you can buy prints, $ 40) imagining the first three Star Wars movies as spaghetti westerns by Italian director Sergio Leone. Would Leone have had enough decency to not make any prequels? Probably. *spins gun on finger, accidentally shoots Jar Jar in the face* Woopsie doopsie! “That wasn’t an accident, was it?” Is a tauntaun penis ever warm to the touch?

Hit the jump for the other two.

Fly Through 3D: The Final Sequence (With an Original In-Game Soundtrack)

This is a sample of the final sequence of the Fly Through 3D game for Windows Phone 7. You’ll see it when you complete the first public version of the game available on the official Windows Phone Marketplace. The sequence is not so long (in the game, you can always skip it), the video just wants to show the final music track composed exclusively for this in-game scene :) .

originaliphoneebay2

Apparently $ 10,000 is the going rate for a factory-sealed first-gen iPhone. At least, that’s according to two sellers on eBay, who have recently listed the historic device on the bidding site.

I would usually say that most electronics shouldn’t be seen as collectors items, as they only lose value over time and aren’t pivotal enough during their lifespan to warrant a resurgence in value. Yet, the original iPhone is a different story.

This is a device that changed the course of the future. The App Store itself, though not present on the original iPhone, has changed the entire tech industry. Plus, the first iPhone was the very first time we had a usable version of the Internet in our pockets. So yeah, the original iPhone is a big deal.

There have been no bids on either unit, though both come from seemingly trustworthy sellers. Samsonbible is a top-rated seller with 100% feedback, and phsledge also has 100% feedback. Plus, the pictures look totally legit, as even the box is still wrapped tightly in plastic.

Here’s the seller listing:

STUNNING RARE COLLECTORS CHOICE APPLE iPHONE 1ST GENERATION 8GB AND FACTORY SEALED..!!! YOU ARE SEEING A PIECE OF HISTORY..!!!! THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE COLLECTORS SHOW PIECE..!!!! THIS WOULD BE A CROWN JEWEL FOR ANY COLLECTION..!!!! AMAZING FACTORY SEALED BOX..!!! UNOPENED AND THE COLLECTORS DREAM APPLE iPHONE..!!!!!! THIS IS OFFERED FOR A LIMITED TIME….. !!!!!!! HAPPY BIDDING…!!!!

So, if you have $ 10,000 lying around and have held on to all of the previous iPhones (or plan on collecting them), hop on over to eBay and check it out. This well may be your only chance — the original iPhone is no longer available for sale.

And even if you can’t afford it, it’s always fun to check out the specs compared to what we’re seeing these days.

[Hat tip to iDownloadBlog for spotting the listing]
