nexus-4-google-now

Google is bringing the Nexus 4 to another carrier in the UK, expanding availability to Three after debuting the device with O2 as its initial partner in that country. The Android 4.2-powered smartphone will be available starting December 13 on Three, either on a £35 per month contract with an upfront cost of just £29 on the One Plan (unlimited data and high on-network text and talk limits, but with a two-year contract), or pre-paid for £399.99.

The added carrier partner comes just one month after the Nexus 4′s official launch, which saw quick sell-outs in the UK and the rest of the world. Google’s latest smartphone seems to be experiencing either very high demand, very short supply, or a combination of both (although new reports claim shipping times have improved), so it’s interesting to see Google expand availability so quickly.

The Nexus 4 should offer fairly good speeds on Three’s DS-HSDPA network, but the hack revealed this morning that allows users to manually enable LTE on the device will do Three customers no good. Even when Three’s planned 1800MHz LTE network begins to roll out, it won’t be compatible with the Nexus 4′s AWS LTE band support. Of course, that feature’s still not technically even official, and the phone is still among the best options for Android devices out there. The interesting thing will be to see how many people opt to buy through carriers, versus getting cheaper outright prices direct through Google and bringing it to the network of their choice.

Skype launches prepaid cards in UK Available in over 1,400 stores, credit starts at 10

Skype has unveiled a series of prepaid cards for the UK, offering users without a credit card the ability to top-up their accounts starting from from £10. A second £20 card will also be available in UK retailers including Asda, Currys, PC World, Sainsburys and bookseller WHSmith, with both denominations redeemable globally through the Microsoft company’s online portal. While Mexico got there first, we’ve been told that more countries can expect their own currency-specific cards later this year. You’ll be able to use the prepaid credit to pay for Skype subscriptions, including unlimited world calling bundles starting from £8.49 per month — all in time for that incoming Windows Phone 8 app.

Check out and Product here www.amazon.com Nice upgrade from the Optimus V This so far seems to be a very solid phone. It has several advantages over the Optimus V including Android 2.3 rather than 2.2 on the Optimus V, more memory, a slightly larger screen (3.5″ vs. 3.2″) and a faster processor. In terms of memory, the phone comes with roughly 900 MB of main memory that is free (compared to about 150 MB on the Optimus V). Additionally, about 2 GB of memory is in a separate “partition” that can be treated as if it is an SD card, including moving apps to it. While the phone does not come with a microSD card, there is a microSD card slot inside the back cover that can be used for even more storage. While the specs for the phone report it is an 800 MHz processor, reports on the Internet (which I confirmed with my phone using Quadrant) is that currently the phone is shipping with a processor speed of 1 GHz, a nice upgrade. In terms of connectivity, the phone seems to compare well with the Optimus V, receiving strong cell and data signals, as well as the GPS finding satellites quickly. For the price, this phone is tough to beat; though those wanting a high end phone from Virgin Mobile will want the Evo 4G.

Question by : I linked my Windows Phone 7 account with a prepaid card, but the purchases didn’t go through? I don’t have a credit card, so I decided to buy a prepaid one to get games for my WP7, however apparently they didn’t go through. I registered my card online. What can I do to remedy this? I don’t want to be blacklisted from Microsoft.

Best answer:

Answer by DaveyGo to Money Tree and get a prepaid Visa card. Got it to buy stuff online & it always works for me. Even for my Verizon prepaid phone. No ATM fee to get cash when you go to one of their places too.

Huawei Ascend Q hands-on

Huawei had said it would deliver the Ascend Q in August, and it didn’t waste a moment — Cricket is selling the Android 2.3 messager as of today for $ 140 on its prepaid smartphone plans. While the OS, 800MHz processor, 3.2-inch display and fixed-focus 3.2-megapixel camera won’t knock any socks off, we found the Ascend Q a solid phone for compulsive chatters when we tried it last month. There’s also a 4GB microSD card in the box to get the ball rolling. One minor surprise: Muve Music is getting a minor boost through DTS audio processing that reportedly fills out the sound. As long as there’s no expectations of a media extravaganza, Huawei’s new hardware could be one of the better bargains in Cricket’s stable.

Question by Anonymous: Can you access Android Market/Internet on a Prepaid phone without a Data Plan? Im going to get a At&t Fusion go phone prepaid. Its $ 25 for Unlimited Text, 250 mins, and no data plan. Im planning on getting this plan. The phone has WI-FI capability and im wondering if i have WI-FI then can i access all of these? Like Android market to download games and themes and Social Networks.

Best answer:

Answer by Kevin KYou can access the android market place on your phone but only via wifi connection.Smart phones always require data plans in order to work properly (stupid, I know). You’re better off going with T-Mobile. It’s $ 49.99 unlimited data talk and text and that’s with a contract but they have a bunch of cheap prepaid smartphone options as well.

C-Spire debuts pre-paid tablet and hotspot plansAs far as regional carriers go, C-Spire is a pretty big deal. Which makes it all the more surprising that the company hasn’t offered standalone pre-paid data plans until now. The southern cellphone network now has three tiers of pre-paid access for your tablet or Mi-Fi, beginning with a $ 15 100MB package that expires after a week. $ 30 nets you 300MB over two weeks, while the top tier grants you a whole month’s access and 1GB of data — but will set you back a rather steep $ 50. Of course, there’s always post-paid solutions for the more demanding, that start at $ 20 for 1GB per-month and go up to $ 50 for 5GB. For more, check out the PR after the break.
