Wipe that insincere, two-faced grin off your face — your computer knows you’re full of it. Or at least it will once it gets a load of MIT’s research on classifying frustration, delight and facial expressions. By teaching a computer how to differentiate between involuntary smiles of frustration and genuine grins of joy, researchers hope to be able to deconstruct the expression into low-level features. What’s the use of a disassembled smile? In addition to helping computers suss out your mood, the team hopes the data can be used to help people with autism learn to more accurately decipher expressions. Question by newcomer: The Samsung PC Studio 3 does not recognize my u700 Gleam cell phone connected to USB port. Need help!? I clicked the “connect” button in Connection Manager of the Samsung PC studio 3, but the window kept showing cell not connected.

Under the u700 cell phone “Settings & Tools”, there is a selection for Bluetooth Menu, but not other methods of connections. Under the “phone setting” of the “Settings & Tools”, there are 9 settings available, but again there is no selection for USB settings. The software “help” stated that the “Connection Manager” should automatically recognize the phone, but it did not.

Question by Tor Life: Windows keeps asking me for a driver for my Droid X, what do I do to get it to recognize a driver for it? “Found New Hardward” dialog comes up every so often when my Droid X isn’t even plugged into the USB, it is seeing my phone wirelessly. The dialog then says inside of it, “Windows needs to install driver software for your Motorla Phone”. I clicked on “Locate and install driver software (recommended) Windows will guide you through the process of installing driver software for your device.”, however it doesn’t find anything from Windows Update online. HELP! I’m not sure what to do now besides just cancel that dialog, but it comes up so much I’d like to actually install the right driver instead of ignoring it. I did go to the Motorola website and installed the “Motorola Mobile Phone USB Drivers (for Windows®)” but that didn’t take care of the solution. Maybe I need to re-install? Notice it says for USB though, this is all wireless. Confused, I didn’t however install the USB charging drivers, but that shouldn’t matter at all because again it is USB and you can’t be charging wirelessly. HELP!

I have a lg Chocolate Touch and when i plug my phone into the computer my phone will charge but nothing else. I used to be able to use my phone with my computer when i had vista but my computer crashed so i put windows 7 on and now its not working. My laptop is using 64 bit and since I’ve upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 my iTunes doesn’t recognize my iPhone when I plug it in. I have downloaded and installed and re-installed and restarted the computer a million times. When I try to plug in my itouch (2g) itunes says there is a software issue and I need to uninstall itunes and install the 64bit version. I HAVE THE 64 BIT VERSION INSTALLED ALREADY! The apple mobile device suppoort that is supposed to run doesen’t seem to be on my PC at all. It’s not in Services or in the task manager. I can’t download it seperatley from itunes either cause it’s supposed to come with itunes. please please help me! ( i tried disabling my firewall and re-doing everything and that didn’t work either)

Now, this isn’t quite the height of innovation, but it’s a pretty cool compilation of existing technologies nonetheless. The femme-themed AILA robot has an RFID reader in its left palm, which allows it to obtain non-visual information about the objects put in front of it. Based on that input, as well as data collected from its 3D camera and two laser scanners, AILA can intelligently deal with and transport all sorts of items, without the pesky need for a fleshy human to come along and give it further instructions. The good news is that it’s a really slow mover for now, so if you do your cardio you should be able to run away from one in case of any instruction set malfunctions. See it on video after the break.
