Question by kevinvw2000: How to build robotic servo with standard Radio Controlled (R/C) interface? Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to build high torque robotic servo. I have purchased the most powerful R/C servos available and need more torque and travel. So I’m looking at building my own from scratch. I basically need it to function like a regular R/C servo but with much more torque and travel and it needs to plug into a standard R/C receiver. Thanks, Kevin.

Answer by craftmakeroneThere is a magazine I found at the Barnes & Nobel bookstore about making robots. It’s called SERVO. It’s a nice and informative magazine. My son totally enjoyed it.

If you’ve been taking your trusty ethernet cable for granted since 1985, then we don’t blame you — that’s when the IEEE 802.3 standard was first published and it hasn’t had a full revision since 2008. Behind the scenes, however, the IEEE Ethernet Working Group has continued to add extras like 100Gbps compatibility (1Tbps will have to wait), improved energy efficiency and greater suitablity for in-car networking. As of today, all of those amendments have been incorporated into 802.3-2012, which makes this a good time to pay homage and remember just how often thin air lets you down.

The recommendation to use NHK’s 7,680 x 4,320 format has gone unopposed and should define the parameters for incredibly detailed 8K video worldwide. This shouldn’t lead anyone to return that 4K TV just yet — once again, it’s important to remember that NHK still won’t start any kind of wider testing until 2020. That’s also assuming that the first 8K sets are down to Earth instead of the incredibly expensive 145-inch variety.

Question by Justin M: Will Kinect come standard with the applications Paint Party and the brick smash one? I liked those games they introduced from the start. I am getting my Kinect on thursday, and would like to know if it comes with paint party and the brick smashy ball game thing. and please no anti kinect answers
Best answer:
Answer by Walter SNo. Paint party was just a mini game concept. It hasn’t been made or put into any games and it doesn’t cme with kinect. Kinect comes bundled with kinect adventures which is 20 mini games I think one them is the brick breaking game you mention. Im not 100% sure though.

The format saves the trouble of adding an extra port, but it’s really only intended for HDMI-based destinations and occasionally runs into compatibility issues. VESA is hoping to settle all that with its newly available Mobility DisplayPort standard, or MyDP. Existing micro-USB ports will still serve as the output, but you’ll have the option of plugging into DVI or VGA displays with the right adapter, in addition to HDMI and full-size DisplayPort. Picture connecting to an older projector and you’ll see why that might make sense. The new spec will charge up your device like with MHL, but it also has about 1Mbps of bandwidth for input, such as keyboards and trackpads in some future lapdock. Video still tops out at 1080p and 60Hz, so there’s no hooking into a 4K display here. The real advantage, for many, is simply in having a broadly-adopted standard in the first place: VESA backing sees 180 companies tacitly endorsing the idea, producing a big improvement over the patchwork results that we’ve seen from MHL’s much smaller alliance. The chief obstacle is the wait for the first smartphones, Ultrabooks and tablets with MyDP, which could be months or more away.

Microsoft’s second preview of Windows Embedded Standard 8 is available now. The latest version, typically used outside the standard office and home environs, throws in Kinect for Windows compatibility, as well as some gesture filters for arm-flailing interaction and NFC support. The preview now supports nine languages and requires at least a 1GHz processor, 1GB of system memory (2GB if you’re running a 64 bit system), a DVD drive and 7GB of space for the full install. Hit up the source for plenty more detail and the download itself.
