Who says a superhero movie can’t be pieced together entirely from the “Americana” and “Gone Fishin’” stock footage collections? Director Zack Snyder this weekend made his case for the matter with the first Man of Steel teaser, which debuted before The Dark Knight Rises in two voice-over varieties: Superman’s Kryptonian dad Russell Crowe and adoptive dad Kevin Costner.
Both teasers feature fatherly encouragement that goes far beyond our dads’ persistent reminders to stay out of his sock drawer, but neither really gives you much of a look at Superman himself. For more of the man himself in costume, have a look at the lengthier Comic Con trailer that also recently made its way online. It’s bootlegged, but this particular recording is decent enough to at least give you an idea of some of the dramatic, consistently-windblown scenes Snyder has planned for us.

Fans of the Steel Battalion series will remember fondly showing off that massive, 40 button controller to their friends and, for a time, feeling like the most hardcore gamer on the planet. Those days are sadly gone, that amazing controller not compatible with the Xbox 360, but of course these days you are the controller. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is the latest, Kinect-powered entry to the series and if you look around you’ll find the above, your very own Engadget logo that you can plaster all over your Vertical Tank. While we’ve had limited time with the game, we have to echo the sentiment of our friends over at Joystiq who conclude that the controls are, well, broken to put it mildly. But hey, dig that logo!

As posted by the film’s official Facebook, here’s the logo for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, Man of Steel. Basically, it’s the Superman symbol, but filtered through Snyder’s default “edginess” filter that lowers the brightness, drops the saturation, and arbitrarily adds texture to anything it’s applied to. And it’s in slow motion. Don’t ask me how, but it is.

Veteran tablet maker Archos has released a teaser video of a new tablet they’re going to be releasing (we presume) later this year. It’s called the G10 XS (the latest in a series of G tablets) and it has a few differentiating features that may call your name.
As others have noted, the only way for Android tablets to set themselves apart from one another is in design and specs. Archos has found one more that seems to have been mostly neglected: material. Ubergizmo reports that the shell of the G10 series will be made of “paper-thin” steel. Perhaps that’s how they managed to get the thing down to an impressive 7.6mm thick.

The claim to thinnest tablet out there, of course, is short-lived and doesn’t have much of an effect on user experience past a certain point (do you really need that extra half a millimeter in your bag?) — but Archos isn’t divulging any specs yet. It will, however, ship with Ice Cream Sandwich.
And it also will have a close relationship with a keyboard, with which it will dock or possibly just sync. That puts it on a collision course with another major Android player, Asus, whose Transformer series has had a keyboard as a major feature for some time now.
No availability estimate was given, but the price is said to be between €200 and €400, or around $ 250-500.
