Nintendo may be MIA at TGS this year (as usual), but that hasn’t stopped Turtle Beach — it brought a pair of Wii U headsets to the show anyway. We dropped by the outfit’s booth to take a peek, finding seemingly empty boxes in lieu of product. Turns out they weren’t so empty — the Ear Force N11 and NLa headsets are so lightweight, we didn’t even notice they were there. After a brief unboxing, this editor wrapped each set around his head, finding the headband tension of both the over-ear N11 and the on-ear NLa to be just as light as the accessories themselves, squeezing my skull with only the gentlest of pressure. The sets’ earmuffs seemed built for comfort as well, soft, and not the least bit irritating. Staff on hand told us that the internals weren’t quite final, but sound quality aside, we could easily see settling in with either of these products for a long, comfortable gaming session. Both sets arrive later this year — $ 35 for the white, on-ear Ear Force NLa cans, and $ 50 for its black over-ear cousin. See our impressions for yourself in the video after the break.

Related Posts:If Nokia doesn’t show off at least one banana-hued Lumia smartphone come September 5th, we’re going to be extremely confused. Say howdy to the Pro-monikered followup to its corded Purity HD stereo headset by Monster, which gains Bluetooth (no word on what version), NFC for pairing and active noise cancellation. Similar to its recently revealed PlayUp speaker, the company’s teasing the the Purity HD Pro as an audio accessory that’ll “perfectly match your Lumia” in a choice of black, white, red and yellow. The Pro is essentially identical to its predecessor, but now the folding earcups also serve as a pseudo-on/off switch for its ANC functionality. As you might expect, all that tech and Monster branding will cost ya a spendy €299 (about $ 376) — nearly as much as Parrot’s Zik by Starck. No further details are currently available, except that the cans will reach store shelves near this year’s close.
Update: You’ll find a video hands-on by way of The Nokia Blog here.

Sony’s PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset made a splash when it landed last year, but there were two inescapable quirks: a lack of bass and a lack of any wired fallback for your other devices. The brand-new Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset Elite Edition should solve both. Its earcups now carry a new trick, BassImpact, that reportedly delivers the headset’s eponymous pulses and just that bit more punch at low frequencies. We also can’t help but appreciate having a 3.5mm headphone jack (and cable) to plug in an Xperia S or, if you’re daring, a device that goes without Sony’s logo. The noise-cancelling microphones and the overall headset are considerably subtler as part of the remake, to boot. Gamers will have to go without the Pulse-upgraded headset until the fall — not to mention pay a higher price, at $ 150 — but they can get a video overview after the break to bide their time.
