If you were impressed by CompuLab’s Trim Slice that was released a few months back, wait’ll you get a load of the new model that’s on its way. Available near the end of August, the new diminutive desktop will be powered by NVDIA’s Tegra 2 SoC like its elder sibling. In order to differentiate itself from the previous release, this build incorporates an accessible SATA hard disk bay, so that “ARM users are no longer deprived of choice when it comes to storage.” Sounds great, right? You’ll also be able to choose between two models. The Trim Slice H Diskless will allow you to add your own HDD or SSD for $ 279, while the $ 319 H250 comes with Linux pre-installed on a 250GB HDD. Both of these beasts will showcase 1GHz chips, 1GB RAM, HDMI and DVI ports, Gigabit Ethernet, built-in 802.11n WiFi, 4 USB ports, 2 SD slots, an RS232 serial port and USB Bluetooth adapter. Ford’s been pushing SYNC in its autos since 2007, but you wouldn’t have known it had you opted for the base trim level on your ride. Thankfully for those who appreciate the basics, that’s a-changing. The automaker is aiming to entice more potential owners by offering the voice-activated infotainment systems across all levels for $ 295 (down from $ 395, where optional), starting with its 2012 Edge and Explorer models. To sweeten the deal even further, it’ll also become standard on SEL variants for the first time — before, it was a luxury previously reserved for Limited and Sport. Ford plans to roll out the system across its entire lineup in three years time, bringing the 2013 Ford Taurus, Focus, Escape and Flex into the fold. As you’d expect, developers have wasted no time in tearing apart the Mac OS X Lion preview, and in so doing they’ve allegedly discovered some intriguing things — namely, support for the SSD-wiping TRIM command, and a series of high-DPI display modes which would allow for icons and UI elements with twice the graphical detail — which could mean a PC-sized Retina Display. The former doesn’t sound like the most exciting upgrade, but it’s truly a boon for Mac users with solid state storage, as TRIM can greatly improve write speeds in compatible drives. As far as the improved pixel density rumors are concerned, it’s not clear whether Apple’s actually looking at doubling display resolutions in new computers (9to5Mac imagines a 15-inch MacBook Pro with a 2880 x 1800 screen) or whether Apple’s simply moving to maintain icons that are precisely the same physical size across all its displays — which would make fantastic sense for a touchscreen UI, by the way.

The AZ3750-A34D all-in-one PC is easily one of the sexiest AIO units we’ve seen in quite some time, boasting a 21.5-inch LCD, a 3.2GHz Core i3-550 processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB (7200RPM) SATA hard drive, multi-format card reader, DVD burner and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. You’ll also get a gigabit Ethernet port, a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), eight USB 2.0 ports and a bundled mouse / keyboard.
