Question by Guitarbeast13: What are some up sides to being an engineer? (robotics, mechanical, chemical etc.)?
I’m thinking about a career in engineering and was wondering some of the specifics in these careers. Pay, hours, what you do, how enjoyable it is etc. Thanks for the help!

My brother is a chemical and he earns GREAT money. All the engineers I’ve known earn great money and seem to have interesting jobs,often with foreign travel opportunities.

    I like the variety of projects I’m involved with, ranging from private developments such as subdivisions [to] commercial projects such as fast food restaurants and gas stations to the construction of parks, trail systems, and river improvements.

    Secondly, I enjoy the opportunities I have to talk to all kinds of people: contractors, developers, counsellors, homeowners, and other consultants.

    Thirdly, I like the chances I have to travel, to get outside, from walking through forest valleys to downtown city streets.

    I often work long hours to keep projects on time and to meet our clients’ needs. They demand that our work be done to the highest quality, on time, and always within budget. Sometimes working late means breaking promises to my family, which doesn’t often go over well.
