OLED wont be a reasonable price for at least 4 or 5 years.
They’re being sold now but are very expensive. $2500 for this small one from Sony. It’s be a few years until the price comes down on these but the technology is advancing pretty rapidly for OLEDs. When they do come out in mass quanities, they’re going to be worth it. For now stick with the LCD or plasma. Plasmas are starting to become scares though. They used to be the choice for larger screens but the companies have eliminated the cons of LCDs and have made them a better buy. Wait until the Thanksgiving day sales. You should be able to find good deals on LCDs.
The big issue with OLED is getting them to the point where they last longer than about four years. This is a technology that is not yet ready for the mainstream market place. It has been suggested that they may not be ready until 2015. You may have a long wait if your interested in an OLED HDTV. The 11″ OLED HDTV offered by Sony is an expensive, novelty item that allows Sony to appear as the market leader in OLED technology, but it is not a serious product ready for rapid adoption into mainstream consumer products.
