Nothing, people just like the name of the iPad. Something about an overpriced name for a piece of equipment thats been outdated for a long time is popular nowadays.

An Ipad is a phone processor, phone OS, phone firmware with a big screen and NO call capability and no flash. The xoom is the same. The ipad has better APP support and IS well built. We have not evaluated the xoom.
I agree with aj august that the screen can crack or get scratched. My company gave me an ipad to evaluate and we will NOT be deploying them. An ipad and it is a nice tool, but it is an ACCESSORY to a computer NOT a substitute for one. I agree with him that a macbook is better choice, or even a pc based laptop.
If you have to get a tablet, you should look at the eeeslate by asus.
