Question by liv: Will they make a similar device for wii like the xbox kinect?
Does anyone know if nintendo has plans to make a device that hooks up to wii that is like the kinect for xbox?

They won’t make it for the current Wii, but in interviews with executives from Nintendo, they confirm that they are infact working on a new console. The only thing we know about it is that it will be HD/Widescreen compatible. They most likely won’t ever make a console that doesn’t require a controller since Nintendo loves to be backwards compatible.
@Gabriel – “It wouldnt look good if nintendo copied the kinect becuase they could possibly be sued for stealing the idea” Nintendo didn’t sue Sony or Microsoft for stealing motion controlled video gaming since they made it first. You obviously aren’t in-touch with the gaming industry or gaming community if you think Nintendo plans to ride the Wii wave for another 5 years, maybe another 2 at most. That’s right, it’s been 5 years since Wii was brought out and the system isn’t fully compatible to play with newer widescreen televisions. Nintendo WILL make a new console that is widescreen and HD compatible soon. A new handheld from Nintendo with 3D isn’t going to suffice for long since the 3D thing is just a current fad that will eventually fizz out, it will entertain little kids, but I think actual gamers would be annoyed with it after a while. By the way, your grammar is horrendous.
They might make something like Kinect in the future. But Nintendo currently has no plans right now to make something like that.

Not really.And please for the love of god,dont believe any people here that may talk about the”Wii 2″ becuase it doesnt exist.anyways,Nintendo (unlike sony) is all about creating their own ideas.It wouldnt look good if nintendo copied the kinect becuase they could possibly be sued for stealing the idea.And besides,Nintendo wont need to do anything like that with the release of the 3DS in about 2 short months
@ Amber… for the most part I agree with what you’ve said. But… for one, the Wii is actually only “4″ years old (4 yrs. and a couple of months), as it was released in Nov of 2006. And Nintendo probably will release a “NEW” system (to replace the Wii) within the next couple of years (my guess is fall of 2012). As far as “3-D” TV’s and such go… did you see the stuff that they’re showing at the latest Consumer Electronic’s Show? Companies are coming out with 3-D camcorders… and 3-D this, and 3-D that. If it DOES end up being a “FAD”… it’s a fad that is going to be around for quite a while (especially if the movie theaters can keep charging a premium for 3-D movies). As long as people continue to go see 3-D movies in the theaters, more and more of those people will want to watch 3-D stuff IN THEIR HOME. It looks like 3-D stuff is just STARTING to take off (it’s certainly going to be around for a while, anyway).
But, to answer “Liv’s” question…
Nintendo IS NOT going to make a device like Kinect for the Wii. They MIGHT make something like it for their NEXT system (when that finally comes out), but not for the Wii. Nintendo has been trying to push their “Wii Motion Plus” technology (somewhat unsuccessfully) for the Wii, so that’s what they are going with for now.
